See What Your PDF Is Really Sharing

Documents carry more than what's printed on the page. Author names, editing software, GPS coordinates from photos, and even earlier drafts can hide inside a PDF. Upload yours and we'll show you exactly what's there, before you decide what to remove.

What We Check

  • Author, creator, and software metadata
  • Embedded JavaScript and auto-run actions
  • Hidden file attachments
  • Comments and markup not visible when printed
  • Revision history from earlier saves
  • GPS location data in embedded photos

Who This Is For

Not just legal or business use — anyone sharing a document benefits from knowing what's inside it first.

  • Job seekers scrubbing a resume before applying
  • Businesses removing internal author names before sending a proposal
  • Anyone stripping GPS data from a scanned or photographed document

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about the Privacy Scanner

What does the Privacy Scanner check for?

It scans your PDF for document metadata (author, creator, software), embedded XMP data, JavaScript or auto-run actions, embedded file attachments, comments/annotations, incremental revision history, and GPS location data in embedded photos.

Does scanning modify my file?

No — scanning is read-only. Nothing changes until you review the report and click 'Sanitize & Download'.

What does Sanitize actually remove?

It always strips document metadata, XMP data, embedded scripts/auto-run actions, file attachments, and collapses any revision history into a single clean version. Stripping GPS from photos and removing comments are optional toggles.

Will sanitizing change how my PDF looks?

No. Sanitizing only removes hidden data — the visible content, layout, and (unless you opt in to removing them) any comments stay exactly as they were.

Is this only useful for legal documents?

No — it's useful for anyone sharing a PDF: job seekers scrubbing a resume, businesses removing internal author names before sending a proposal, or anyone stripping GPS data from a scanned photo.
