Everything you need to know about inserting and renumbering PDF pages
If your PDF already has page numbers printed on it (from a previous export or stamp), inserting new pages shifts everything after the insertion point — page 12 might now physically be page 15, but the printed number still says "12". You need to re-stamp the numbers after inserting, not before.
Insert first, then number. If you number first and insert afterward, the new pages will have no numbers and everything after them will be off. Numbering last means every page gets the correct number for its final position.
Not directly — Insert Pages works with PDF and image files. Convert a Word, Excel, or PowerPoint file to PDF first (a free, one-click step), then insert it here.
Yes. Hover over the gap between any two pages in the visual grid and click the '+' that appears — the new content lands exactly there, not just at the start or end.
Yes — this is a common workflow for legal documents, financial reports, and course materials where a new exhibit or section needs to slot into an existing numbered document without breaking the rest of the numbering.
Insert Pages and Page Numbers are two focused tools, not one combined step — you download the assembled PDF from Insert, then upload that same file to Page Numbers to stamp it. It's two short visits, not one, but each tool stays simple and fast at what it does.
Yes, both inserting pages and adding page numbers are free with no sign-up and no watermark on the free tier.
